The Contrasting Art Styles

The Contrasting Art Styles of York Artists Jane Dignum and Mark Druery

The City of York has long been a hub for creative talent, and none more so than the work of the two artists Jane Dignum and Mark Druery. Both artists have developed unique and distinctive styles which, while complementary, stand in stark contrast to each other.

Jane Dignum is an abstract artist who works mainly in oils, creating vivid and emotive pieces that explore the boundaries between the abstract and the figurative. Her pieces often have a strong sense of movement and energy, and a use of colour that is both bold and sophisticated.

Mark Druery on the other hand, is a contemporary artist who works mainly in mixed media. His work is rooted in a fascination with the everyday, and his pieces often feature found objects and everyday items used to create larger compositions. His approach to art is often playful and humorous, with an emphasis on the unexpected.

Together, Jane Dignum and Mark Druery are two of York's most celebrated artists, and their contrasting styles create a vibrant and dynamic dialogue. Through their work, they offer a unique perspective on the world around us, and a reminder of the power of creative expression.

We at Holiday Homes in York love the work of both artists and can recommend a visit to the Village gallery in Colliergate of the 12th January
